Blitzball: Can a Clone of Hitler Escape his Genes?
“Blitzbal,” a new young adult novel from Barton Ludwig, is ever so appropriate for the times we live in right now, with the whole Mexican border situation underfoot. In a fictional town called Reichfield, a teen boy learns that he is none other than the clone of Hitler. Soccer is war in this town and the battle is fought between white supremacists and Mexicans.
Overview of “Blitzball”
The story takes place at a school called Richfield High. The school is comprised of mostly white students. Over the past few years, it has lost almost every game against North Prep — a school consisting mostly of Mexican, Filipinos, and Brazilians students. To turn the tide, Addie the protagonist, as well as his white supremacist friends develop a plan to prevent the lead player from the opposite team from playing. However, things don’t go according to plan. They encounter a surprise no one saw coming. Shaylee takes the place of the player they hurt and not only does she win, she plays even better.
What Every Reader Must Anticipate
“Blitzball” is filled with intrigue and symbolism for young adults making sense of the current political landscape. Full of dark humor and satirical elements, it is sure to speak to those who feel both like laughing and like crying each time they view the news.
Ludwig was inspired to publish a coming-of-age story that highlights that upbringing, genes and even previous held beliefs do not define a person forever. It also leaves readers with the message that every living being has the power to choose a different path.
“Blitzball” has just been released and is currently available at Amazon.
